What do you have a heart for? What is your passion in life? Is for family or your job or your children or volunteering for others? Would you be surprised to know that through observing God’s words and actions in Scripture that God has a heart for all people? It’s true! God loves all people and shows that love through his son, Jesus. We are the objects of God’s heartfelt affections, and not just we but indeed the “world.” John 3:16 states, “for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That is the good news of Christmas—that Jesus’ first coming was purposed to declare his relentless, passionate, and lavish love for the world. As we begin to journey through this season of advent together, we are challenged to know more about God’s heart and to reflect God’s love for all peoples in our daily lives.
